Theme: Honesty 

1. What subjects do you have difficulty being honest about? Some common topics are age, weight, political affiliation, income, spending, debt, etc. (Write for 5 minutes)
2. Think of white lies you have told lately. Why do you feel they are necessary? What would happen if you were direct? (Write for 5 minutes)
3. If honesty were a concrete object, how would it engage your senses? Consider how much it might weigh, how it might smell or taste, how it moves through space, the sound it might make, and what it would look like. (Write for 5 minutes)
4. After reading the poems below, spend time synthesizing your free-writes to create a draft in your chosen genre (poetry or prose).
